INDIVIDUAL, FAMILY, & COUPLES COUNSELING
Therapy for parents & families in Scottsdale
Nurturing your connection to your child, your relationship with your partner, and your strength as a family unit. Specializing in new and expecting parents, adoption, grief & loss, and more.
Parenting has a way of shining a light on things you haven’t explored before.
Sometimes that’s in yourself.
You wonder if you’re cut out for your role as “mom” or “dad,” especially when you often respond in ways you’re not proud of or don’t find parenting comes as naturally as you wish it did.
Sometimes that’s in your partnership.
You’ve grown your family, but your connection has withered. There’s more conflict than before and it feels like you’re constantly out of sync.
Sometimes that’s in your relationship with your child.
It seems like you speak entirely different languages. And as much as you love your child, you feel disconnected and distant from them.
You might be:
Doubting your parenting skills
Feeling hopeless or lonely
Grieving a recent loss or transition
Feeling unappreciated in your role
Arguing more with your partner
Struggling with the changes to your life & relationships
This isn’t about whether you’re a “good” parent.
The fact that you’re here tells me you already are.
Sometimes we just need someone to come around us and support us on this incredible, difficult, and challenging journey. That’s what I’m here to do.
You can’t care for others without caring for yourself first.
Whether you’re expecting your first child or years into this journey, parenting doesn’t come without its doubts, questions, and unique challenges. In therapy, I’ll offer you a space to share those things without guilt, shame, or judgment.
Both moms and dads undergo enormous changes in identity when becoming parents. We’ll work on exploring what that identity is, while also reminding you of who you are outside of this role, too. I’ll support you in cultivating deep attachment with your child, restoring connection with your partner, and embracing the perfectly imperfect parent you are.
I am trained in multiple therapeutic methods to support parents and families, including attachment bonding therapy for parents who have adopted or are fostering children, Prepare & Enrich Premarital Counseling, Emotionally Focused Family Therapy, and Gottman Bringing Home Baby. We can draw on whatever strategies and approaches you need to achieve the change you’re looking for.
Individuals
If you’re struggling with the anxiety, overwhelm, or big questions that come with parenting, you don’t have to do it alone. In individual counseling, we’ll explore the roots of the challenges you’re experiencing and develop coping skills to feel better in every area of your life.
Couples
The majority of parents experience a significant drop in their relationship quality after having children, but restoration is possible! In couples counseling, you can learn to deal effectively with conflict, increase affection, and promote the health of your entire family.
